Obituary

Thomas A. Inkrott

NEW CLEVELAND – Thomas A. Inkrott, 85, of New Cleveland, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at his residence. He was born September 23, 1941, to the late William and Mildred (Verhoff) Inkrott. On April 8, 1967, he married Mary Ann Schroeder, who survives in New Cleveland.

Other survivors include three children: Fred (Rhonda) Inkrott of Leipsic, Jennifer (Roger) Schroeder and Beth (Todd) Schulte, both of Ottawa; nine grandchildren: Isaac Inkrott, Tanner Inkrott, Gavin Inkrott, Mariah (Nathan) Arrington, Elyse (Colin) Erhart, Mitchell Schroeder, Grant Schulte, Leah Schulte and Tyler Schulte; five siblings: Ann Liebrecht of Continental, Marilyn Ellerbrock of Columbus Grove, Norman (Wilma) Inkrott of Leipsic, Donald (Elaine) Inkrott and Ruth (Dale) Gerding, both of Glandorf; a sister-in-law, Marlene Inkrott of Leipsic; and in-laws: Sr. Rita Schroeder, SND of Toledo, Dennis (Joan) Schroeder, Diane (Joe) Kaufman, both of Leipsic.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Inkrott; and two brothers-in-law: Norm Liebrecht and George Ellerbrock; and in-law, Jim Schroeder.

A lifelong farmer with a deep, enduring passion for the land, Thomas poured his heart into his work. One of his greatest sources of pride was knowing that the farm he originally purchased in 1966 would continue to thrive through the dedicated hands of his son and grandsons, keeping his legacy alive for generations to come.

Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard during peacetime. He also served as the Liberty Township Clerk for many years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland and the Ottawa Knights of Columbus. He loved playing cards, watching the Guardians and spending time with his family. Thomas cherished his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his card-playing group for their weekly Solo games.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Scott Perry officiating.
