Obituary

Thomas J. Kahle

August 16, 1951 – October 17, 2026

COLUMBUS GROVE – Thomas J. Kahle, 75, of Columbus Grove, passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born August 16, 1951, in Lima, to the late John and Catherine (Macke) Kahle.

Tom is survived by his son, Kyle (Heather) Kahle of Bluffton; three beloved grandchildren: Hannah, Conrad Kahle, and Noah Casey; and his siblings: Robert (Jane) Kahle of Kalida, David (Jane) Kahle of Kalida, Joan (Glen) Koenig of Miller City, Kathleen (Jack) Runner of Sandusky, Ken (Carol) Kahle of Kalida, Laurie Siefker of Columbus Grove, Glenn (Theresa) Kahle of Columbus Grove, and Mark (Marlene) Kahle of Kalida. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Donald Siefker.

Tom’s education began at the Pontifical College Josephinum High School seminary in Columbus, Ohio, during the 1960s, before graduating from Kalida High School. He went on to attend college at THE Ohio State University in Columbus. Tom spent his career as a dedicated mechanical engineer at BK Tool & Design Inc. in Kalida.

An avid fisherman, skilled woodworker, and enthusiastic card player, Tom cherished every moment spent around the table or out on the water with family. He was a lifelong history fanatic with a special passion for the Civil War, and visiting Gettysburg was one of his favorite trips. Tom truly knew no strangers. With a captivating warmth and inviting smile, he would light up any room he entered. Above all, his family was his greatest joy. Tom undoubtedly loved his grandchildren so very much, and he showered his many nieces and nephews with constant love, laughter, and attention.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus Grove, with Fr. David Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Kalida. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and one hour prior to the mass on Saturday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
