Valerie Lynn Heitzman

DEFIANCE – Valerie Lynn Heitzman, 65, of Defiance, passed away at 6:17 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice. She was born December 19, 1960, in Lima to the late Lee and Carole (Dowler) Kesler.

Survivors include two children: Ashley Verhoff of Defiance and Marc (Debbie) Heitzman of Jerome, MI; her favorite grandchild, Brody Verhoff; and two siblings: Nick (Joni) Kesler of Port Orange, FL and Rosalie Miller of Wapakoneta.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bo Miller.

Valerie was a retired office manager. She loved dogs. Valerie was truly a selfless person, always putting others’ needs before her own, giving without expecting anything in return and making a difference simply because she cared for others.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CHP Hospice.
