Valeta Hilda Beining

OTTAWA - Valeta Hilda (Grone) Beining, 94, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by her children. She was born April 2, 1927 in Delphos to the late Clement and Armilla (Lause) Grone of Delphos. She was a graduate of Delphos St. John's High School. On April 21, 1949, she married the love of her life, Rudolph H. Beining who preceded her in death on March 29, 2001.

Valeta is survived by eight children: Kathleen Lewis of Lima, Beverly (Jerry) Hurd of Bremerton, Mary Jane (Greg) Strayer of Port Clinton, Sharon (Gregory) Nussbaum of Glandorf, Alvera (Kip) Warnke of Medina, John (Barb) Beining of New Cleveland, Carmella (Steve) Lammers of Tipp City and Laura (Terry) Wagner of Glandorf;  a son-in-law: Roger (Deb) Schroeder of Bryan; a sister: Norma Goedde of Delphos; sisters-in-law: Alice Arnzen of Delphos and Irene Schroeder of Ottawa. She considered herself blessed with twenty-five grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her daughter: Darlene Schroeder; son-in-law: C. David Lewis; and sister: Helen Ann Luebrecht.

Valeta was a member of New Cleveland Holy Family CLC, and in later years, a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Sts. Peter and Paul, Ottawa. Rudy and Valeta raised their nine children in New Cleveland where she was a full-time homemaker. Valeta enjoyed many years as an Avon representative. She was an avid reader and a charter member of the Friends of the Putnam County Library. She served as secretary for the former Leipsic Art League where she enjoyed painting and fellowship with other local artists.

She believed in learning something new every day and was a member of the Lifelong Learning Institute at OSU where she enjoyed taking classes on a variety of topics for many years.

Funeral mass will held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 with a scripture service at 7:45p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
