Velma Shalter

CONTINENTAL -- Velma Shalter, 98, of Continental died 5:15 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at Putnam Heritage, Ottawa.  She was born August 31, 1919 in Cloverdale to the late Randolph J. and Josephine (Leatherman) Marriott.  On January 11, 1941 she married Willis D. Shalter, who preceded her in death on April 20, 1994.

Velma is survived by a son Michael (Carolyn) Shalter of Columbus; a granddaughter:  Paige (Andy) Shalter Bruening; great-granddaughter:  Lizzy Bruening; and a sister Faye Doseck of Lima.

She is preceded in death by a 2 brothers:  Lewis "Mike" and Paul Marriott and 4 sisters:  Zelma Schmidt, Florence "Flossie" Parrett, Doris "Babe" Reynolds, and Emma Halbgewoks.

Velma was a homemaker and had worked for Sears Roebuck, Defiance.

At Velma's request, there will not be any service at this time.  There will be a private burial at a later date in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.  The arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
