Verna Hohenbrink

OTTAWA – Verna Hohenbrink, 99, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:30 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023 at The Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born September 16, 1924, in Glandorf to the late Hugo and Anna (Meyer) Recker.  On September 27, 1943, she married Daniel Hohenbrink, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1987.

Survivors include two children: Daniel (Judy) Hohenbrink of Continental and Jane (Jerry) Carpenter of Ottawa; seven grandchildren: Scott (Cindy) Stant, Thomas (Jessica) Stant, David Meyer, Jr., Kyle (Tracie) Carpenter, Amber Carpenter, Mollee (Andy Young) Carpenter, Dana (Brian) Burton; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Stant-Meyer; and 10 siblings.

Verna was a homemaker and member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa.

Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
