Vidella May Schey
LEIPSIC – Vidella May Schey, 93, of Leipsic died at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born June 9, 1918 near Columbus Grove on Bucher Road to the late Ezra and Elvina (Hilty) Bucher. On September 28, 1946 she married Leon Schey who died December 30, 2007.
Surviving are her 3 children: Terry (Beth) Schey of Leipsic, Rodney (Therese) Schey of Wapakoneta, and Kreg (Bonnie) Schey of Leipsic; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Lucille Bucher of Bluffton and Thelma Bucher of Findlay. She was preceded in death also by 4 brothers: Vernon, Victor, Veland, and Vinton Bucher; and 5 sisters: Verena Schumacher, Velma Conrad, Vera Diller, Viola Bucher and Veldine Bucher.
Vidella was a homemaker. In her early years before she married she had worked at Triplett in Bluffton. She was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora where she was a primary Sunday school helper and leader, a member of the church choir and a member of Mary-Martha's Ladies Group. She was on the Putnam County Farm Bureau board for many years. During her free time Vidella loved to travel with her husband and had been to Africa while her son Rodney was teaching there, as well as Germany, Switzerland and Hawaii. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching the activities of her great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora with Pastor Dennis Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Grace Mennonite Church or Camp Friedenswald.
