Vincent M. Verhoff

KALIDA – Vincent M. Verhoff, 85, of Kalida, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born April 22, 1939, in Lima to the late Ambrose and Elizabeth (Schierloh) Verhoff. On February 8, 1992, he married Carol Jean VonderEmbse, who preceded him in death on June 28, 2022.

He is survived by two sisters: Esther Lammers of Leipsic and Cecilia (Rudy) Ritchhart of Kendallville, IN; seven nieces and nephews: Kay (Norm) Reynolds, Kelly (Doug) Hiegel, both of Findlay, Terry (Dorothy) Lammers, Rick (Christa) Lammers, both of Leipsic, Paula (Mike) Whitesell, Bill Ritchhart, both of Rome City, IN and Eric (Stephanie) Ritchhart of Bowling Green, KY; fourteen great-nieces and nephews: Carrie, Jensen, Hope, Heather, Benjamin, Abby, Mitchell, Brock, Allie, Adam, Tyler, Zac, Sami and Elizabeth; Carol's children: Kim Mead of Nixa, MO, Jay (Kimmie) Mead of Bunker, MO, Robin Mead of Findlay and Tracy (Jon Estabrook) Mead of Fort Collins, CO; four grandchildren: Chloe Jean Edmondson of Nixa, MO, Kaycee Mead of Salem, MO, Kobe Mead of Glendale, AZ and Jodi (Jamie) Bollenbacher of Findlay; three great-grandchildren: Caden of Nixa, MO, Jackson and Julia of Findlay.

In addition to his parents and wife, Vincent was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Elmer Lammers; and a nephew, Thomas Ritchhart.

Vincent was a 1957 graduate of Kalida High School and veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1962 to 1966. He retired as an over-the-road truck driver, where he picked up and delivered in all 48 continuous states. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, Kalida Knights of Columbus and Ottawa VFW. Vincent enjoyed spending time with his friends, neighbors and beloved family.

Funeral Mass will begin 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
