Viola M. Maag
LEIPSIC - Viola M. Maag, 92 of Leipsic, died 12:55 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Meadows of Leipsic. She was born February 14, 1928 in Leipsic to the late John and Martha (Kuhlman) Deters. On April 23, 1949 she married Omer Maag, he preceded her in death June 24, 1980.
Viola is survived by her children: John (Susan) Maag of Auburn, IN, Susann (Thomas) Fenstermaker of Leipsic, Stephen (Irene) Maag of Temescal Valley, CA; grandchildren: Brian (Nicki) Fenstermaker, Kathryn (Dale) Maag both of Ottawa; step-grandchildren: Andrea Simerman of Goshen, IN, Julie (Robbie) Drummond of Ft. Wayne, IN; five great-grandchildren: Lauren and Cole Fenstermaker, Jacob, Nathan and Matthew Maag; six step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Rose Verhoff of Ottawa, and Bev Leis of Miller City; brother-in-law: Eugene Maag of Columbus Grove; brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis (Rita) Maag of Kalida, Leroy (Karen) Maag of Columbus Grove and Marcia (Jim) Kuhlman, of Ottawa.
She is preceded in death by a brother: Harold (Catherine) Deters, two sisters: Angela (Wilfrid) Schulte, Dolores (Ralph) Verhoff, and two brothers-in-law: Gerald Verhoff and Lavon Leis.
Viola was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. She was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary. Viola was an expert seamstress in her day and she had sewn many dresses for weddings.
Due to the restrictions regarding public gatherings, a private funeral service will be held at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Father John Stites officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove. There will be a Memorial Mass held at a later date.
Friends wishing to pay their respects may pass through the car-port of the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic from 12 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
