Viola E. Schroeder
LEIPSIC - Viola E. Schroeder, 96, of Leipsic, died at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 at Hilty Memorial Home in Pandora. She was born September 4, 1917 in Miller City to the late Frank B. and Elizabeth A. (Luttfring) Niese. On May 4, 1938 she married Cletus J. Schroeder who died April 3, 1998.
She is survived by 3 children: Patricia (John) Newell, Richard (Ruth) Schroeder, and JoAnn (Thomas) Niese all of Leipsic; 9 grandchildren: 4 step grandchildren: 21 great-grandchildren: 9 step great-grandchildren: 1 great-great-grandchild; 11 step great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Robert (Karis Schroeder) Niese of Ottawa and Corneal "Neal" (Pat) Niese of Pinion Hill, CA; a sister: Luella Snyder of Defiance; and a sister-in-law: June Niese of Leipsic. She was also preceded in death by a grandson: Steven Niese; 2 brothers: Theodore (Alice) Niese and Vincent Niese; 3 sisters: Rosalie (Tom) Rosengarten, Marie (Vincent) VonderEmbse, and Ethel (Harry) Burleson; a brother-in-law: Don Snyder; and a sister-in-law: Phyllis Niese.
Viola was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She loved playing dominoes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora or to St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic.
