Virgil H. Koenig, Jr.

LEIPSIC – Virgil H. Koenig, Jr., 70, of Leipsic, passed away at 6:37 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Mercy Health Defiance Hospital, Defiance. He was born July 25, 1956, in Lima to the late Ruth (Hoffman) Koenig.

Virgil is survived by two sisters: Mary (Steven) Huber and Rita Koenig, both of Leipsic; a niece, Courtney (Joseph) Wilhelm; and two nephews: Steven Huber II and Joshua (Allie Warnimont) Huber.

Virgil was a retired Ham Operator. He enjoyed trains and riding his bike around town. Virgil loved his family immensely.

Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday prior to Mass at St. Mary’s Parish Life Center, Leipsic.

Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
