Virginia A. Sroufe
CLOVERDALE - Virginia A. "Ginni" Sroufe, 67, of Cloverdale, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born April 3, 1946 in Lima to Hubert (Bud) and Julie (Hoersten) Hemker who preceded her in death. On November 18, 1967 she married Larry E. Sroufe and he survives in Cloverdale.
Also surviving are two sons: Darren (Jan) Sroufe of Boonville, IN, and Craig (Katrina) Sroufe of Cloverdale; two daughters: Nichole (Judd) Spencer of Cloverdale and Gwenn Spencer of Ottoville; ten grandchildren: Austin (Tazz) Eickholt, Kelsi Dickman, Shane Wilson, Andrew Brickner, Conner Brickner, Katy Robey, Veronica Sroufe, Coltin Sroufe, Marisa Brickner, and Nathan Geise; two great-grandchildren: Jenna Wayne and Eric Eickholt; four brothers: Ron (Anne) Hemker, Richard (Janet) Hemker both of Ottoville, Gary (Cathy) Hemker of Delphos, and Randy (Carol) Hemker of Louisville, KY., and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia worked for Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert, and retired in 2009. She was a member of the FOP Auxiliary Evansville Lodge 73, VFW Auxiliary of Defiance, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 541 of Continental. She was a member of St. Barbara's Parish in Cloverdale, its Rosary Altar Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be scripture service at 2 p.m. and an Altar Rosary at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Barbara's Parish, Cloverdale or to the Putnam County CAP Program.
