Wayne F. Hector
GILBOA – Wayne F. Hector, 82, of Gilboa, went to be with Jesus at 11:16 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his residence. He was born March 28, 1941, in Leipsic to the late Clyde and Gertrude (Fenstermaker) Hector. On June 10, 1961, he married Bonnie Jean Bauman, she preceded him in death on March 6, 2022.
Wayne is survived by two daughters: Kathy (Ron) Kaufman and Susan (Randy) Watkins, both of Gilboa; nine grandchildren: Nicholas Wentz, Brianne Wentz-Culver, Lindsay (Quincey) Jackson, Melinda Kaufman, Ronald (Roni) Kaufman, Courtney Watkins, Jessica Watkins, Brittney (Brian MacVeigh) Watkins, and Shea (Caleb) Tijerina; sixteen great-grandchildren: Cole Wentz, Alexis Wentz, Denver Wentz, Dylan Bryan, Preston (Olivia Sieferd) Laytart, Piper Culver, Emerson Swinehart, Nikeea Heston, Teneea Heston, Socoya Jackson, Peylee Johnson, Shylee Kaufman, Ronald Kaufman, Kamea Kaufman, Shane Watkins, and Chauncey Jerrell; one great-great grandchild: Everleigh McClure, and baby Laytart on the way; six siblings: Helen Manring of Ashland, Ardath Haughn of Traverse City, MI., Dorthea Wilkinson of Tiffin, Patricia (Tom) Craft of Dayton, Dwight (Rogette) Hector of Elletsville, IN., and Laura (Bill) Drerup of Punta Gorda, FL; and a sister-in-law, Marsha Hector of Bluffton.
He is preceded in death by a son, Randy Hector; a great-grandson, Bradley Wentz; a brother, Eugene Hector; and three brothers-in-law, Jerry Manring, Edward Haughn, and Paul Wilkinson.
Wayne was a lifelong farmer. He also worked as a deputy for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and had worked for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Wayne was a member of the Gilboa United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved camping with Bonnie, Gene and Marsha, he was part of the Good Sam's Camping Club. Wayne rode horses, motorcycles, and even a bull one time.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Gilboa United Methodist Church with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. A visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and again on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
