Wayne Eugene Kratzer
LEIPSIC - Wayne Eugene Kratzer, 92, of Leipsic, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family members.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kay (Bolman) Kratzer.
He is preceded in death by his 5 siblings: Don (Lois) Kratzer, Fairfield, CA, Eldean (Charles) Campbell, Columbus, GA, Dick (Betty) Kratzer, Oak Harbor, Mary Ruth (Bill) Klass, Ottawa and Ralph (Janet) Kratzer, Jensen Beach, FL.
Wayne was born May 20, 1929 in Leipsic to the late Glen and Nellie (Goodman) Kratzer. He graduated from Leipsic High School, where he was a member of the basketball and football teams.
He farmed the family homestead, worked construction, and was a "shift manager" at Philips, Ottawa for 24 years.
Wayne was a great family man and a loving father. He married Virginia "Ginnie" Harper (McComb) in 1949 and the couple had 4 children together including: LouAnn, who died in infancy. Surviving are Lois (Curt) Hench, Scottsdale, AZ, Dave (Rose) Kratzer, Anderson, SC, Brian Kratzer, New Haven, IN and Bruce (Maureen) Kratzer, Indianapolis, IN. Ginnie passed away July 4, 2001 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Wayne is the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren: Ted Hench, Phoenix, AZ, Lindsey (Katie) Hench, Tempe, AZ, Kody Kratzer, Charleston, SC, KK Kratzer, Anderson, SC, Alexis Kratzer, Anderson, SC, Tyler (Sarah) Kratzer, Charleston, SC, Ashley (Nick) Campau, Big Rapids, MI, Alana Kratzer, Dundee, MI and Taylor Kratzer, Dundee, MI.
In October, he became a great-grandfather to Benjamin, son of Tyler (Sarah) Kratzer.
Wayne married Kay in 2003 and has enjoyed an extended family that includes: Susette (Gary) Lammers, Ottawa, Leann (Brian) Christman-Fook, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jason Christman, Miami, FL and granddaughters: Kaitlin Lammers, Lakeside Park, KY and Lauren Lammers, Ottawa.
Wayne was a very social man who enjoyed his friends, family and Father's Day weekends, golf, the coffee shop gang, winning cards and tinkering in his workshop.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Hauenstein officiating. All are welcome to attend. Following the celebration of life, there will be a reception at the Eagles, Leipsic.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021 and again on Friday one hour prior to service at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice nurses, social workers and chaplains for their exemplary care and compassion. Thank you also to all of their friends and neighbors who came to visit, called, delivered meals or goodies and prayed for his comfort.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bridge Hospice or Putnam County CAP.
