William B. "Bill" Bellmann
KALIDA - William B. "Bill" Bellmann, 81, of Kalida died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born April 1, 1932 in Putnam County to the late William Carl and Elizabeth (Konerding) Bellmann. On October 13, 1956, he married Rita Laudick who survives in Kalida. They have been happily married for 56 1/2 years.
Also surviving are 6 children: Paul (Joan) Bellmann of Kalida, Tom (Dana) Bellmann of Colorado, Carolyn (Jeff) Riepenhoff of Miller City, Ann (Alan Eickholt) Rayle of Kalida, Dan "Red" Bellmann of Kalida, and Kenny (Gale) Bellmann of Kalida; 13 grandchildren: Christy (Michael) Killion, Courtney (Brian) Heitmeyer, Ryan (Melissa) Bellmann, Jason, Kristen and Kendra Bellmann, Ashley (Craig) Otto, Derek Rayle, Kasie, Andrea and Clay Bellman; 2 step grandchildren: Jared and Amber Horstman; 8 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Trevor and Trey Killion, and Sienna, Peyton, Nathan and Tenley Otto, and Owen Heitmeyer; 1 brother: Bernard (Leona) Bellmann of Delphos; 3 sisters: Mary Ordway of North Creek, Elizabeth (Carl) Corbitt of Findlay, and Juanita (Duane) Tonkel of MI. He was preceded in death by 1 brother: John Bellmann; and 2 sisters: Matilda (Cleemput) Liebrecht and Clara (Wagner) Dockett.
Bill was a contractor and owner of Bellmann Builders in Kalida. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida and its Holy Name Society. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Continental American Legion where he was a past commander and was also a member of the Ottawa VFW, Ottawa Eagles, Kalida Fish and Game, and the NRA. Bill coached Kalida Pony League for 14 years, loved to hunt, fish, and bowl and was an avid OSU fan.
Bill was a man with a big heart. He loved his family unconditionally and treated each of his children the same. A man of many words, he was kind and gentle, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He worked very hard all his life and could get along with anyone. He could hold a conversation for hours on end and never run out of stories to tell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Military rites by the Continental American Legion and Ottawa VFW will follow the mass outside church. Burial will be at a later date in St. Isidore Cemetery , Cuba. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a scripture service at 3:30 p.m. and a American Legion and VFW service at 7 p.m. Memorials can be given to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
