William J. "Bill" Ruck
MILLER CITY – William J. "Bill" Ruck, 83 of Miller City passed away at 11:20 a.m., Sunday June 9, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 30, 1940 in Findlay to the late Alfred and Helen (Gross) Ruck. On February 27, 1965 he married Carol M. Kettels. She died September 6, 2017.
Survivors include three children: Tina Ruck, Steve Ruck and Joe (Sheree) Ruck all of Miller City; seven grandchildren: Marissa, Chloe, Corbin, Connor, Ava, Alexander and Sophia; and two great-grandchildren: Lyla Jade and Annie Gail; and a sister, Sharon Meyer of Napoleon.
He was also preceded in death by three siblings: Karl "Pink" Ruck, James Ruck and Connie Bennett; a great-granddaughter, Nyla Rene´.
Bill retired in 2001 after 43 years with General Motors in Defiance. He was a US Veteran serving in the Army. Bill was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City and was involved as a cantor, choir member, communion distributor and reader. He was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles, Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Miller City Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed videography and taped 25 years of weddings. Bill coached Little League baseball, was an avid golfer and past president of the Miller City golf league at Pike Run. He also enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Reds. Bill loved his family very deeply.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the mass Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. K of C service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Nicholas Church.
