William C. Calvelage

FORT JENNINGS -  William C. Calvelage,  92, of Fort Jennings went home to be with the Lord, the love of his life, Virginia and other family members who have gone before him at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 21, 1924 in Putnam County to the late William H. and Isabel Paulina (Reinemeyer) Calvelage. On December 11, 1941 he married Virginia M. Landin who died February 13, 1991.

He is survived by three children, Dale William (Helen) Calvelage of Ft. Jennings, Nicholas J. Calvelage of  Delphos, and Nancy (Earl) Kuhlman of  Ft. Jennings;  eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Calvelage of  Delphos. He was also preceded in death by three sons, Ronald J., James R., and William Calvelage; a daughter, Elizabeth L. Calvelage; two granddaughters, Brenda Sue Calvelage and Paula Sue Calvelage; three brothers, Omer J., Louis G., and James F. Calvelage; and a sister, Mary Calvelage.

William was retired from Philips formerly of Ottawa and was a farmer. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 471.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos with Fr. George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Delphos. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. There will be a rosary service at 1:45 p.m. and a scripture and song service at 8 p.m. both Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the 5K nurses at St. Rita's Medical Center, St. Rita's Hospice or toward Masses.
