William "Bill" Gluss
Hamler--William "Bill" Gluss died 7:30 a.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Hilty Memorial Home. He was born July 5, 1932 to the late William and Norah (Hayes) Gluss. On August 1, 1970 he married Jeanette Kleman Schnipke, who survives in Hamler.
Also surviving are his children: Carol (Jeff) Knieper of Addison, MI, Victor (Kathy) Schnipke of Portage, Helen (A. D.) Schroeder of Ottawa, Norm (Rose) Schnipke of Columbus Grove, Don (Linda) Schnipke of Galesburg, MI and Phyllis (John) Niese of Leipsic; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 sister: Susanne Thayer of Napoleon.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Joyce Ellerbrock; a sister: Mary Catherine McKinley; and a grandson: Brent Schroeder.
Bill was a retired postal carrier and a life-long farmer. He had been a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association and held many offices. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters and had once been the president.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler with Father Nick Cunningham. Following mass there will be military rites by the Hamler American Legion. Burial will then follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25th at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where there will be a rosary service at 7 p.m..
