William W. McCallister
Ottawa - William "Bill" W. McCallister, 93, of Ottawa died 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at The Meadows at Putnam Acres.  He was born  August 10, 1920 in Leipsic to the late Ward G. and Gladys R. (Trott) McCallister.  On October 12, 1949, he married Esther M. Schroeder, who survives in Ottawa.
William is also survived by his five children: Dennis (Diane) McCallister of Lincoln, NE, Michael (Anne)  McCallister of Portland, OR, Pamela (John) Wilhelm of Hamler, Bruce (Karen) McCallister of Xenia, Greg ( Lisa) McCallister of Olney, MD; 11 grandchildren and  3 great-grandchildren.   He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard McCallister.
William retired after 40 years working at Bill Jones Garage in Leipsic.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during WWII.  He was a member of the First Christian Church, Leipsic, where he was a former deacon.  He was a former Clerk and Treasurer for the village of Leipsic for 20 years; Mayor for 6 years in Leipsic; on the Board of Public Affairs for 6 years in Leipsic; Veteran Service Commission for 33 years and Selective Service Board for 15 years.  William was a member of Leipsic's American Legion; VFW and was a member of the Free & Accepted Mason Lodge #325.
A funeral service will begin 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic.   Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 and one hour prior to service on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Leipsic; Putnam Co. Hospice or charity of donor's choice.
