William John Zeigler
MILER CITY - William John Zeigler, 81, of Miller City, died 9:58 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Rita's medical Center, Lima. He was born February 26, 1934 in Miller City to the late Walter and Eva (Noon) Zeigler. On December 20, 1972, he married Lillian E. Schmitz. She died January 19, 2011.
Survivors include a brother: Ronald (Julie) Zeigler of Florida; a sister: Alma Jean Inkrott of Miller City and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Norman and Robert Zeigler.
William retired after 40 years from Philips, formerly of Ottawa. He was a US Army Veteran during the Cold War serving in Germany and a life member of the New Bavaria Am Vets. A member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City and past council member, a 1952 Miller City High School Graduate and part of the 1950 Miller City State Basketball Team, member of Miller City Village Council from 1972-1998, Ottawa Eagles and Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Miller City Sportsman's Club, Quarter Century Club, past Miller City Fireman, and a life member of IBEW and P.E.R.S. William enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and dogs; and was a fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Stephen Schroeder and Fr. Robert DeSloover officiating. Military rites will follow the mass in front of church. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Miller City School.
