Willis E. "Rabbit" Mangold
LEIPSIC - Willis E. "Rabbit" Mangold, 86, of Leipsic died at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay with his wife and daughter at his side.
He was born May 25, 1927 in Woodford County, IL to the late Ezra and Anna (Leman) Mangold. On December 30, 1955, he married Dorothy "Polly" Calhoun, who survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving is a daughter: Vicky Mangold of Leipsic; and a sister: Melba Mangold of Eureka, IL.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Deborah Mangold; three brothers: Clarence, Harley, and Marvin Mangold; and three sisters: Madeline Mangold, Clarice Isch, and Wilma Mangold.
Rabbit retired from the former Libby's, Leipsic after 35 years. He also worked for Leipsic Processing, Leipsic Kerns, and Ward Construction, Leipsic. He attended Leipsic United Methodist Church and was an Army Veteran. He was a member of Ottawa American Legion, Leipsic VFW where he was past Commander and past Quarter Master, and Ottawa and Columbus Grove Eagles. He was a life member of Leipsic Eagles where he was past Worthy President and also past Deputy State President and past Chairman of District 24.
Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at LOVE-HEITMEYER Funeral Home, Leipsic with Pastor Bill Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic with military rites by Ottawa American Legion and Leipsic VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
